Absolutely! And, you're entitled to receive a copy of your complete record at that practice or at least have that record sent to your new provider of eye care (although many/most practices charge for that copy). If some day electronic health records become standardized, you could/should be able to hand a provider a memory stick and have them copy your file on to it in a few seconds with no phony/baloney inflated charges for paper, staff time. toner, the electricity to run the copy machine, and any other itemized charge their office manager can dream up. You could then provide that memory stick to your new provider and they could download the file into their electronic health record system.
