laminate flooring

Jul 23, 2003 2 Replies

I am interested in installing floating laminate flooring in my house. I have concrete subflooring. I am interested in in any experiences people have had doing this and tips that may make the work easier. Are there any recommendations or warnings about brand/model types?

Yes. There are MANY. They've been posted and posted over and over again in response to your very question. Do a search of Google Groups and tell us what you've discovered.

Read the warranties. Some are worthless.

For example, Pergo guarantees that their floor can handle household moisture..... but any surface water must be removed with in 30 minutes or its void. So if you don't notice that you dripped a glass of water until 2 hours later you are screwed if the floor has a problem.

On the other hand Mannington says their floors are can handle normal spills etc and the only thing they don't guarantee is the type of accidental flooding normally covered by homeowner's insurance.

Don't take my word for it... read them for yourself. Mannington covers labor if the floor was professionaly installed. Some others do not.

I'm buying a Mannington floor but there are some other good ones out there with real warranties like Mannington.
