Glyphosate has worked for me on poison ivy too. Of course what few people state is what concentration they used. For general broadleaf weeds, grass, etc, 3% or 4% works fine. If I was doing a bunch of PI or similar, I'd use 6%. But if I had a tank of lower concentrate, I'd just use that on some small plants like the OP has. Worst case, maybe you have to hit it twice. And if you have a lot of tougher stuff like that, then one of the other brush killer products is better yet.

It has always killed the poison ivy for me too. I buy some generic brand that is about 45% and water it down to something maybe slightly over the minimum for what I want to get rid of. It helps some if the mix has something in it to make it stick to the leaves. Some plants like the ivy are slick and much of it runs off if you don't. The Gly only works if it can be absorbed by the leaves. It does no good if it is on the ground around the plant. It does work slow and may take a week or so to kill off the plants.
Usually "brush killer" (like Ortho Brush B Gone) is triclopyr. The brand name of that is Garlon.
Lots of weeds either have naturally or have developed immunity to Glyphosate. Monsanto just isolated that gene and put it in their corn. There are still a few pervasive weeds that Glyphosate kills and I will use it on them (mostly Cogon Grass) but there are plenty of weeds that just laugh at it.
On the Cogon Grass it takes 2 weeks to really show anything and you still have to hit it a few times (Roundup Pro at double the label strength). The only reason I use it is the bromiliads I am trying to promote are not affected by Glyphosate.
I guess now Roundup just kills people, if you believe the ambulance chasing lawyers. I see and hear the ads all the time. " $10 billion waiting, do you have non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a common form of cancer"? "Have you been exposed to RU?" Call sue em and burn em, shysters at law. They actually admit in the ad that the cancer is common to begin with, but in court, well then your case has to be caused by RU and you claim you soaked yourself in it, day after day, but that you'd be a moron to do that, shouldn't enter into it either.
Yes they make several. The Bayer Advanced I mentioned is mainly for laws killing common weeds and crabgrass but also kills poison ivy.
I use roundup and it works fine.
If I need to cut one small plant out, I hit it with hair spray to coat it, put a plastic bag over it, pull or cut at the base. I probably don't need the hair spray but one extra layer of protection won't hurt.
If it gets too big to put a walmart bag over it, then you're not paying attention.
