Do they even MAKE a Wi-Fi outdoor camera?

The camera in your second link seems to fill-the-bill ? But the memory card capacity is a bit small at 128 gig max. John T.

1. An outdoor camera that connects to your SOHO router's SSID over Wi-Fi
2. Which displays in the house what's going on WITHOUT a SIM or the net

In essence, it would act like a wired camera might, only over your Wi-Fi. I would think *everyone* would want that, so why can't isn't it on Amazon?

Wyze makes inexpensive wifi cameras, some of which are outdoor rated. Many of them can be jailbroken to be cloud-free, and the ones which can't be jailbroken are being worked on by the user community.

There's also cloudfree.shop which does not sell any cameras at all, but all their products are, well, cloud-free. It would not be a bad idea to keep an eye on them to see if they add one or more cameras to their catalog in the future.

You don't understand how the camera works. The video goes DIRECTLY to the memory card - never goes to China.

I have an application where I run 4 cameras connected to a recorder which is accessible over the internet. The cameras are wired in my installation but CAN be set up wifi. Since I had to run power anyway I went with POE - which IS more reliable and more secure. Camera and recorder are made by AXIS - and are NOT CHEAP!!!!!

The amazon ad says nothing about a sim card. if it needed one and people didn't find out until after it was delivered, everyone would be complaining. Yet it gets 4.5 stars and no mention of SIM or internet. I'm certain it doesn't even try to accesss the net but every computer controls what goes in or out with a firewall.

I might get one of these myself**. I'm not worried about security, I just want to watch the deer that visit my small yard. Now all I get to see is their scat, but when we had snow, I could see one of them was 18 inches from my front door and the othes were eating all the ivy off my little fence, which they have never done before. I guess their other food was coveed by snow.

That's what I want. I don't like the idea of devices in my home sending everything through some foreign server, even though I'm using MY computer just a few feet away. It should work like my router, which acts as a LOCAL web server.

It says 7-days free cloud or local storage. You might want to opt for local storage, since it doesn't say where the cloud is. It's also not all clear to me if that is the first 7 days only or a rolling 7 days. Anyone know.

Also, this one and a competitor keep showing the user looking at a cell phone, and one mentions Alexa. Does anyone know or even have a guess... Can you point the camera and see the image from a PC???? I want to use this when I'm home, not when i'm not.

But I don't sse any special reason the cloud would be in China or an enemy country and even if it is, do they have time there to monitor all the videos from all over, most of which show nothing happening?

Another reason why the recent practice of calling computer programms "apps" is so bad. Because the descriptions of how these works says apps and a year ago we would know that only menas phones, but now it could mean PCs too. What a waste of a good word, program.

But I put an sdcard in the slot and there is no way to set up the camera WITHOUT installing the app and the app doesn't work WITHOUT registering it.

Nothing goes on the sdcard. No matter what I do. Nothing. I must be doing something wrong.

I have a while before I have to return it if I can't ever get it to work. There must be a secret trick to make the eseecloud app save to the sdcard!

This would be possible to do with IPv6 without an intermediary.
