Craftsman hand tools "lifetime warranty" for ratchet -V-43785 (repair or replace)

Have you ever had them mail you a ratchet repair kit?

I went to OSH (Orchard Supply) but they had to have the _same_ ratchet. o Same happened at Ace this morning when I brought it to them.

Ace told me that they only "repair" them nowadays; not replace them. o Is that true?

For the record on the warranty, this is a photo of the Craftsman six-inch

3/8ths inch ratchet handle whose latch mechanism is becoming balky. o Craftsman -V-43785

Interestingly, I prefer the "round" bar handles to the rectangular ones:

But I prefer the "tab" mechanism as opposed to spokes, as shown here:

Nobody seems to have the exact replacement as far as I can tell... o If I can get them to mail me a repair kit, that would work out well.

Take it to Lowes. They honor Craftsmans tool replacement.

I'll try, but there's a _huge_ difference between MARKETING & reality.

For example, at OSH, they wouldn't replace it unless they stocked it.

Let's hope Lowes doesn't have _that_ policy for Craftsman hand tools.

Yeah, I've got some Craftsman tools so old that they have a single-digit model number and a two-digit serial number ;-)

Yeah!

I even have Craftsman tools so old they don't _have_ any model number!

BTW, how old is that Craftsman 11/16ths by 5/8ths bent distributor wrench?
