The ScreedSaver Pro Plus is a solid choice for a pour this size because it’s a boom-operated machine rather than a drive-in style. Since you’re worried about that yellow vapor barrier and the rebar grid, the boom is your best friend. You set the machine in one spot, extend the arm, and pull the concrete back toward you. You aren't constantly spinning tires on your chairs or risking a tear in the poly like you woud with a smaller walk-behind or ride-on screed.
As for the learning curve, the joysticks are pretty intuitive, but the real skill is in managing the **puddle height**. If your mud is too high in front of the auger, the machine will struggle to maintain that perfect F-number. You still need two or three guys with rakes to keep the concrete roughly leveled out before the head hits it. If they leave a massive mound, the screed might ride up or bog down. The laser guidance is incredibly precise, but you shouldn't just set it and forget it. You’ll want a guy with a stick and a receiver checking the slab behind the machine every twenty minutes or so just to make sure nothing has shifted. Sometimes a vibratory frequency can settle a tripod or a truck might bump a transmitter. It happens. But once you have your offsets dialed in, that machine will hold a tighter grade than any hand-screeding crew could dream of over 800 yards. One thing to watch out for on a fitness center floor is the **high-load areas**. Those equipment zones need to be dead flat for the racks and machines to sit right. With 800 yards, you’re looking at a long day. Make sure your pump operator and the screed operator are in sync. If the pump gets too far ahead, the mud starts to tighten up and the screed has to work twice as hard to cut the surface. Keep the slump consistent—usally around a 5 or 6—and the machine will keep up with the trucks just fine.

800 yards is a long haul. Back when we were dragging 16-foot straightedges by hand, a pour that size woud've killed half the crew. These machines are lifesavers for your knees, but don't let the tech make you soft. I’ve seen guys get too reliant on the laser and forget to watch the edges where the boom can't reach. You better have your mix design dialed in. If the slump varies truck to truck, that screed is going to give you fits. I remember a job in '88 where the plant sent us diferent mixes on one slab; we were chasing our tails all day. Keep a close eye on the mud and don't be afraid to send a truck back if it ain't right.
