Understanding the Issue: A dishwasher not draining after being replaced with a new model can be frustrating and confusing.

Possible Causes and Solution:

  • Clogged Drain Hose: One common cause of a dishwasher not draining is a clogged drain hose. Check the drain hose for any blockages or kinks. Clean out any debris or food particles that might be causing the clog.

  • Air Gap Blockage: If your dishwasher has an air gap, check to make sure it's not clogged. Clear out any debris or food particles that may be causing the blockage.
  • Bad Disposal: If the dishwasher is draining into a garbage disposal, the disposal may be clogged or broken. Check the disposal for any blockages or malfunctions.
  • Broken Pump or Motor: If the drain pump or motor is damaged, it may not be able to properly pump out the water. You will need to replace the pump or motor.
  • Incorrect Installation: Make sure that the dishwasher was installed correctly and that there are no leaks or kinks in the drain hose.

If a dishwasher replacement didn't fix it, then you didn't do a complete job nor follow instructions. Supply and Drain lines should always be replaced with any new dishwasher. This, removes the oops-factor from simply having a clogged Drain line or not reading to remove a new garbage disposal's knock-out plug.

- If all of that was done and the above doesn't apply to you, then make sure there isn't packaging material (clear plastic) blocking the draining. Or, call the manufacturer, whom may have hung you out to dry with the China-factor. Appliances are hit or miss today and more tend to be a miss immediately or very quickly for a very large percentage.
