I didn't consider their being a safety aspect to the headrest. I assumed it was some kind of comfort thing. Can't say I've ever had bad whiplash, but I suppose it doesn't sound fun.

The house is valued at like $5k, improvements and land. Very low assessment, at least the taxes are cheap. I'm basically going to give it to my ex, she lives in a terrace style row house with my 6 year old daughter during the week, and I'd gladly put the money in to get them out of there. If she isn't interested in it for some reason, it's a cheap rental property now I guess. That's what it was used for primarily since the 70's anyway per neighbors.

I heard lumber prices are just starting to come back down - is that true? I haven't checked. Fortunately the 14X12 kitchen floor (sub floor and joists) are all that really need done. I can sister a few beams in the attic and patch the sheathing where 8 inch water damaged hole was.

How about drywall prices? If I'm doing it right and not being a cheap ass, it really needs new shingles. It was slate, someone nailed asphalt shingles over, and some spots the asphalt shingles basically rotted away after decades, leaving holey slate visible. Part of it has roll roofing over it. Oy.

I don't know what kind of phone you have, but a phone that simply vibrates without telling you why is pretty useless.

Do you have a notification bar at the top of your phone? Every app that sends me a notification puts a symbol in that bar. I swipe down to read it and then dismiss it. Each app can be customized to make a sound, vibrate, both, be silent or be turned off completely.

Huh? Why wouldn't you eventually check the tranny fluid and then turn it off? Isn't that why you set the reminder - to remind you do something?

Imagine this: I'm driving or at work or watching TV. I say to myself "I need to check the tranny fluid next time the engine is warmed up." I then set the reminder.

I pull in the driveway the next day or when I get home, etc. My phone reminds me to check the tranny fluid. I get the reminder and either do it right then or wait for a more convenient time. Whenever I want to, I simply cancel the reminder. Why would I let it keep reminding me until I reach the "ignore" point?

Dodge, Plymouth, eh -- it's just branding. My parents had a 1991 (I think?) V6 growing up - that might be the earliest car I remember riding it. It was a Plymouth, so that's the first one I think of.

Don't mention "underpowered" to a guy driving a Geo Metro... haha. My neighbor had a 1990 Voyager until he parted it out recently - someone wanted the turbo. I think it was a 4 cylinder. It was an automatic, however. I'm intrigued to learn that they put a 5-speed in a minivan. I almost bought a late 60's Dodge van once that had a 3 on the column, but the rust was very bad -- and that's for my standard.

Hmm... I've had cars where my head doesn't touch the head rest - but others that have. Perhaps a design flaw, or a worn seat?
