Instructions state output thread is 3/4 x 16. Ordered a 4-jaw chuck that will not seat tight. Measured lathe thread - it comes out .701 (11/16) x 10, NOT 3/4 x 16 as mentioned in the instruction book. Is there any way to use this chuck?
Hmmm... could that be 18mm x 2.5 ?

Make a new backing plate.

If you can, return the chuck. Most quality chucks now come with interchang eable inserts. If you cannot return it, you have two choices you can eithe r throw it away and get a name brand chuck or you can have a machine shop m ake you an adapter. The second is cheaper, the first is the better choice.
