You nean like a "buck saw"? What about a coping saw?. Drill the corners of the required relief. Cut in both sides, then rotate the blade 90 degrees in the hole and cut across the back.

The frame saw would be quicker and easier and given the much wider blade, easier to keep straight.
FWIW I needed to un-build our 18 drawer bed base. I shortened it to a single row down to 9 drawers. This meant a lot of inside tight quarters cutting. I have Fein Multimaster and needed blades. I thought I would get some cheap ones and see how they do. WOW was surprised by the assortment of 20 blades from Amazon. Considering that the blades are about $1 each I would say they equally compare to the Fein blades that came with the Multimaster.
Coping saw, yeah, I have one. I know because I found it, still hanging in the study (which used to be the shop).
As I said, "next time". although talking with a friend who is a Master Machinist, he figured _he_ could free hand the needed rabbit with a trim router. And I agreed, _he_ could. Me, not so sure.
For quarter round I found my oscillating sander can make a perfect coped cut.
Thanks Leon. I needed new blades, especially metal cutting. I've tried sharpening dull blades, not always as successful as I like.

You DO have to be careful with a coping saw too. At 68 I still have scars on my knuckles from when I was 8 or 9. Almost faded away, but not quite!!

Looks like a deal, indeed, if they are as tough as indicate. Unfortunately, that set doesn't include any of what I've found to be one of the most useful blades is the 3-1/2 x 2-1/2" rounded...some in this batch--no idea how good these might actually be; never used 'em...
I would think that they would be fine too but if you do a search on amazon for Hotbest there are numerous assortments.

Back when I was retraining in CAD, I had solidworks. I had made

It wasn't my first, second, third choice. I was in the "This has to come put without destroying the counter, or there's no dinner for me."
Once one "gets" a modeling tool it beats a traditional CAD program hands-down. It took me a while to get it through my mind that this wasn't a CAD program. The two are really polar opposites.
My problem is that since I can easily make a complicated model, I do. Then when I get to actually build it, the job becomes impossibly large. OTOH, I can design the widget right down to the joinery so everything fits when I'm done. That's pretty hard to do with a CAD program.
Food is an amazing motivator.

As I said when I started the program: the last time I was doing drafting, it was with paper and pencil. "Computer Aided Design" was all science fiction and probably would have robots putting the final ink on paper. Some of that I think was useful, but ... now we're off on the tangent of "how much theory is necessary?" and "How much manual training is necessary before you start automating it?" DO you really have to know the historical development of a trade / profession to get it, and to understand why power tools / computerized drafting programs were invented?
I cam out of machining. So, yeah, I had some idea how parts look
- as models and as standard drawings. I said more than once when finishing up an assignment "Okay, I can I make this? yes, so , done". One assignment was to first design the casting, then the finished part. I'm doing the casting with an eye towards "how would I hold this for the machining phase?"
