Help with grizzly g0555 riser kit

Please help, I havn't any experience with bandsaws!

So I set up my grizz 555 and followed all instructions with no problems. The saw runs smooth and cuts well, even with the stock blade. (I plan on buying some high quality Timberwolfs eventually)

So I decide that today's project is to install the 6" riser kit. Again, I go through the instructions and when I install the longer blade and try to tension it, I can't. I have the tensioning spring turned all the way up and it still doesn't put any tension on the blade (yes the quick release lever is in the right position). What gives? I measured the longer blade, 105" exactly. I measured the shorter blade, 94.5". The extension block is exactly 6". So since the shorter blade tensioned without problems, I figure that 94.5 plus 12 = 104.5". Is just the extra 1/2 inch that the longer blade is what is causing the problem? I wouldn't think so. Should the 105" blade measure exaclty 105" or are they usually a little short?

Thanks for any help

Frank

Has Grizzly sent you an 'updated tensioner kit"? if not you need to call them and let them know of your problem. They sent me the kit and I chose not to install it untill I ordered some 105" Timberwolf blades. . .they would not tension up. I installed the 'upgrade' tension kit and wadda ya know. . .they fit and tension up!
