Dewal table saw review

I had to break down and buy the dewalt 744 bench top table saw and stand combo. Paid about $510 at the local lumber stealership. Not a great deal by a long shot.

This saw rocks! I used to have an old sears saw that I said I would never part with. It finally parted with me. The dewalt is a much better saw. And wayyy heavier too. This thing weighs about 70 pounds (compared to about

35 lbs for the craftsman). But hey, it cuts down on the vibration right?

The fence is awesome. The miter fence is fine. It cut through 5/4 Oak (cross cut and rip) with absolutely no problem.

This gets me to the blade I bought for it (the saw also comes with a combo blade). The new series 40 50 tooth thin kerf combination blade is excellent imho. Not as good as the forrest mind you but definately a good blade for $54. Actually, a great blade for the price. I also use the freud combo blade. The dewalt is a better blade imo.

Sooooo, I guess the verdict for these two dewalt products is two thumbs up. From the fwiw dept. SH

I had a makita table saw a coupla years ago that was noisier. And the fence really sucked. I sold it. To answer your question though, I'd say it isn't terribly noisy. SH
