alochol based wood stain as leather dye?

i have a large amount of solar lux master alcohol based wood stain (walnut) - is there any reason why it shouldnt or cant be used as leather dye if its the desirable color for dying the leather? is there a difference between alcohol based leather dyes and alcohol based wood stains? thank you

Try it on scrap.

A buddy of mine spray painted a bicycle with red, green, and yellow Solar Lux. It worked great.
