Many have a slot in the side where you can insert a small screwdriver to push open the tab that stops them rotating on the base. Having said that, that base looks to be of an older design, modern ones have the connector block fixed to the base, is wired from behind, and the base makes a seal against the ceiling so that it covers any wiring hole through the ceiling.

But you have clearly *got* the covers off. !!

Really you can probably get replacement units that will slot onto that base or if that proves impossible just connect to a completely new unit.

The wiring is standard IIRC - I installed mine so long ago I've forgotten - in that it is live, neutral, earth, and a line interconnecting them all that ensures they all go off at once. I used

I think what you have is 'EN 14604 Standard' and that means the base, and connectors are standardised

Look in amazon etc for 'EN 14604 mains powered'

As I say, they are simple beasts in terms of how they interface, and replacing a base as well as the active unit is no big deal
