Self isolating?
Self isolating?
I have a galvanised metal gate which has been painted with black paint. The gate needs some of the flacking bits sanding down and then another coat. Any recommendations for a suitable black paint?
I also have an exterior wall which has been painted, but I now want to cover with white paint. Again any recommendations for a suitable paint.
I think you're confusing it with self-isolating tape.
Here's how to amuse a 2-year-old with a tin of emulsion :-)
Silk finish?
This worked well for me Zinsser All Coat Exterior Paint Black 1Ltr (Screwfix 8716G) - expensive but nice and easy to clean brushes!
Metal paint (= solvent based hard paint), though you could also cheap out with bitumen paint. You can also use household gloss, but it doesn't last so well.
A good masonry paint eg dulux. I'm not too familiar with other brands. The main thing is to clean it thoroughly before repainting.
A much cheaper option I've found lasts well is lime paint. Mix builder's lime with water to make a paste. Dilute it 50/50 and use. Don't paint it on too thick or it cracks. If it cracks, just paint more on, it fills the cracks. It looks watery at first, but whitens on drying then whitens again on curing.
