What is going on at Dover and chunnel?

It will only be routine if you want to go to France;-)

So there is no inconvenience for me.

They will do what they always do.

They will set fire to some sheep in the morning and then in the afternoon they will use their EU subsidy money to get pissed up with a couple of bottle of wine, eat all sorts of garlic flavoured s**te before calling in at a brothel on the way home from "work".

Why would one want to go to France anyway? Nip over to any north African country and get a similar cultural experience.

They have certainly issued the necessary notice under Articles 25 and 26:

We have no permanent facilities to carry out census stops, but that doesn't stop them putting out road signs and road cones to create one.

That doesn't mean it can't be done. The pictures I saw of one of the Belgium / France border checks just after the Paris attacks appeared to involve closing the motorway and diverting traffic into a service area, where the checks were being carried out.

A colleague came back from Europe at the weekend. They drove through Belgium into France to get the chunnel. He said that as they came down the motorway to the Belgium/France border, all traffic was directed off at a junction, and straight back on the other side. No checks being carried out, just a short stretch of motorway in the middle of the junction closed (for no obvious reason).
