Well that's just combis for you.

I wait for the hot water secure in the knowledge that it will eventually make its way from the cylinder down through all the pipework and in the fulness of time, get to the kitchen tap. By which time I have used the cold.

How about a mini thermal store under the sink, fed from the CH circuit or the indirect coil in the main cylinder?

cheers, Pete.

I have a condensing system boiler for heating, and a separate multipoint instant gas water heater for hot water, which really is instant. Unlike a combi, it doesn't have a primary circuit to heat -- it heats the tapwater directly. Also unlike a combi, it's an incredibly simple appliance, and doesn't even require an electricity supply.

The old combi we had fired up much faster than the Worcester and wasn't forever buzzing and clicking and generally running its own health and safety routines.
