Washing machine - extending hose

Just put in a new washer/dryer, a Miele integrated model sitting under a worktop.

Both the cold water inlet and the drain hose are just a foot short. (Measuring the old cold water hose it is 2.2 metres long)

Is there available any short extension for an inlet hose? I would like to stick with the Miele hose as this has a metal mesh covering and nice metal fittings. I bought a flexible tap tail from B+Q and of course one end has a perfect 3/4 inch fitting, but the other end has the wrong thread. I guess what I am looking for is a flexible hose with 3/4 couplings on either end, plus a 3/4 to 3/4 male connector (ei to end up with a 3/4 hose with male and femal ends, about a foot or two long). Ideas please.

But the fittings and get some large bore brake hose..the mesh over rubber stuff is routinely used in automotive and other fuel and hydraulics type systems.

Yes.

Call Miele's spares department. They have longer versions of both.

Andy, thankyou. I have a longer drain hose on order now.

They do a 3 metre inlet hose, and a 1.5 metre extension. I'm still trying to formulate a plan to extend the existing hose by a foot though - 1.5 metres is a bit excessive, but I'll go for it if I have to.

Why not extend the 15mm copper tube?

That's a possibility, but I am no plumber.

I guess all I would need is a length of 15mm pipe, and a compression fitting. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing of course.

There you go again Andy - showing off. You just had to tell everyone you had a Miele dishwasher didn't you?

(Actually it's just me pretending to be :Jerry:)

I think we're all aware that Andy favours Miele laundry appliances. However, I don't have a Miele and I'm well aware that Miele offer longer hoses as spares

(my mum had a Miele...)

I know. I should have been a bit more subtle and said something like "I have a friend with a Miele DW and he told me that they have a very good spares department".

The thing is that that is the approach of the man who goes to the doctor and says that he has a friend with a discharge.

Better to be direct.

If they've been very intimate friends it might be prudent to visit the doctor before symptoms appear on himself.

That could be. However, this was more a point about someone referring to themselves in the third person to avoid embarrassment.

I find the normal placcy drain hoses can be stretched a fair bit by having a gentle tug 'o war with them :)

cheers, Pete.

No, you should've said :

" I normally find our fleet of Mieles is very reliable, although we did have some problems with stray diamonds clogging the filters at both the Miami penthouse and the yacht"

Penthouses don't do anything for me, and I can't think of anywhere that I am less likely to want to visit than Miami, except, perhaps, for Las Vegas.

I have been to Monaco a few times, but the only thing I found slightly interesting there was the aquarium. In terms of countries that one can drive through in under an hour, Luxembourg is far more appealing.

But do Miele fit "normal placcy drain hoses"? - the hefty rubber hose on the back of mum's Miele could have been used by secret police.

I think Andorra is more Andy's scene than Miami?

Dishwashers have corrugated hoses for the waste and substantial rubber ones for the supply unless you have onr of the machines with the extra solenoid valve right up at the tap, then it's a different arrangement with hose inside hose.

Never been there, but you are probably right.

Nah. Margate. They've got an Aldi & everything.

I went there once as a child. Margate, not Aldi. Is it still dreadful?
