venetian blind type louvred ventilator wanted

I'm looking for a room ventilator that I can open and close, that has louvres like a Venetian blind. Plenty of sliding hit-and-miss types available, but the open area of these is only about half the total area of the opening. Add a fly screen and you're down to about a third of total area or less. Also, it's difficult to see from pictures of possible candidates on the Internet whether the open-close mechanism is of the Venetian blind type. I need it because we have an open fire in our living room, only burning logs, that smokes if we don't have a decent draft up the chimney, i.e. into the room. I can open a top window, but it's just behind my chair and I end up in a draft. There's a ventilator to the outside in one corner of the room, but it's hit-and-miss and has a fly screen. If I could replace it by one that gives full-area-flow ventilation, I probably wouldn't need the window open. Can anyone direct me to such a ventilator? Existing ventilator

10in x 8in, w x h.

If the room has a suspended floor, should you consider a vent close to the fireplace drawing air from the void? There ought to be existing air bricks ventilating the area.

Yes it has a suspended floor, and I've thought of vents through to the underfloor space before. One complication is that we've got a fitted carpet, and I would have to lift it over quite a large area to see where the joists run, to avoid them. So it's not a preferred option.

I'd pull up a lot of carpet to avoid draughts:-)

I needed to extend our brick hearth when I installed the log burner so took the opportunity to cut a channel through to the burner air intake.
