Treating chipboard floor

Apr 24, 2006 2 Replies

Hi,

I'm installing a new bathroom suite in daughter's flat.

The existing chipboard floor is in quite good shape and I'd like to keep it that way. Is there any sort of treatment available to help waterproof chipboard?

Thanks!

If it is green in colour then it is already flooring grade chipboard that ought to be water resistant. Failing that a coat of varnish ought to do it.

I used some exterior grade stain/sealer I had lying around which rendered the chipboard water resistant and gave a reasonable surface to stick vinyl tiles to. Mine were bathroom grade (green) but I did it anyway.

Cheers

Tim
