A friend has asked me to paint some tiles in the kitchen for her, (quiet shudder!)so first any tips? I will of course being using a proprietary tile paint. Secondly how long after applying can the tiles be splashed with impunity? If it is similar to gloss paint then though touch dry in a few hours it is days before it hardens thoroughly, I always leave doors ajar a while after painting for this reason.

I did this, as a quick fix to cover truly ugly tiles, until we can afford to redo the kitchen. Splashes were wiped up (very gently!) after
24 hours and left no marks. The only problem I found was my fault, rather than the paint's - I did a lovely job, nice and smooth, no brushmarks....went to have a cup of tea, came back to admire my work, and found that some of the paint in the grout areas, had decided to sag onto the tiles. I was VERY careful with the next bit.
Use a Two Pack Epoxy Tile Paint. It is harder than Gloss Paint and is made for repainting tiles in hygiene sensitive areas.
