I have now lost track of the number of minor repairs I have made to this Aquarious 420 washer drier. They have all been quick fixes, nothing major, nothing actually worn at all and its in brilliant nick overall.
Latest was her indoors complaining that it had just suddenly stopped working, flashed its LED's then carried on working. Yesterday, it stopped and refused to do anything, no LED's nothing.
On my last quick fix, I had noted some slight burning of a terminal near where the flex entered the machine, but ignored it as she wanted the washing finished ASAP. The ignoring bit me yesterday...
The mains cable goes straight into a mains suppression module as a moulding, with the machine plugging into that inside. The live spade type in the plug had over heated and burned out, but there was still enough of the spade (steel) sticking out of the filter, to be able solder to. Replacement cable + 13amp + filter unit £31 + p&p, so I cleaned the 3 times spades up and soldered a short bit of flex in place, sleaved, to a choc block, to connect the power to the machine. Back in full working order again.
It must be nearly 10 years old now..
