How do I repair an electric trimmer that stopped working?

My weed-eater that I've had forever and loved stopped working. It just wouldn't turn on. No problem because when they were on sale at the end of the season I bought myself a spare one for next to nothing... bad news, that one also stopped working yesterday. It's not the fuse - other things work fine in the same extention cord.... Can I take this apart and fix it? The model has been discontinued for a while.... RTE115C. I do not smell a burnt motor.... Thanks for any suggestions.

Probably just a bad switch (contact bar is bent out of contact) or some wiring let loose. Rip it apart and see what you can find all of the way down to the motor connections.
