Screwfix Sprint

There was a pile of "sprint" business cards on the counter in the local Screwfix this morning, £5 for 60 minute delivery by yoof on scooter.

I could see it being worthwhile for some handyman type businesses, but not really worth it for me now, a few years ago it was a 12 mile round trip into the city, which could take the best part of an hour, now the nearest branch is under 15 minutes round trip to collect something.

It's tempting... mine's a good part of an hour roundtrip, so you can use the hour to get on with the job - effectively it's paying a fiver to save an hour of your time which is a fair deal especially if you are busy. (and you save the cost of driving there)

But I can't see if it's available without installing the app, and it probably won't be - my local branch isn't listed, a town slightly further away is.

Meanwhile Amazon Prime 'same day' (usually means evening) / 'arrive tomorrow by 13.00' is a fair substitute if you can plan slightly better, and no delivery cost if you're ordering more than £20 worth (or to that and return some items on free returns). Although the stock of items on that quick delivery can be hit and miss, and gets smaller the later you order.

(I think the Prime same day depends on having depots nearby - we have several)
