What is the temperature and how old was the tube? If it is a silicone sealant based compound it will have a storage life of 2 years from date of manufacture and a minimum temperature for application of

You could try warming it.

Unset compound can be removed with white spirit.

It was probably 2 -3 years old, but hadn't started to harden in the tube

- when I cut the 'cone' off it came out fine. Wouldn't have used it otherwise. There is no date on the tube - just 0119252 stamped in.

It was 12"C - but even a sample kept indoors over the weekend hasn't skinned.

I'll try a blowlamp on a sample....

If that fails, then white spirit and a toothbrush it is.......

I feel its a bit mean of them to not help you as surely if its only that old then they should have a warranty that covers if its no good. Who actually made the stuff, can you tell, Its probably one of the big chemical companies.
