Ripples in vinyl runner

My wife bought 5m of heavy duty (advertised as such anyway) vinyl runner from Ebay and it has lots of ripples. Tried walking on it several times and it is a bit flatter but I don't think it is ever going to get flat.

We're thinking of returning it but wondered if any of the experts here had a non-destructive solution to get it to lie flat, including the edges.

Lay it flat in the garden when we get a hot summer's day.

Is the carpet pile thick enough?

It tends to stretch. I guess that eventually it will stretch and give bubbles. Brian

It's remembered how it was rolled up to get through the postal system. Lay it flat (and maybe upside down) and the ripples will start to disappear - and faster on a hot day.

Otherwise it could be the same problem as putting a rug on top of a thick pile carpet and the runner is walking everytime someone puts weight on it and rippling up.

And then go over it with a garden roller ?

Try a hair dryer on it while trampling it flat.

It's the short looped pile, but wouldn't thick pile make it worse?

Possibly the density of the pile has more to do with it.

As long as there's enough depth for the spikes.

I don't want to know the density of a stranger's piles.
