remote ceiling light.

I wondered about this lidl item, would be a nice touch for the guest bedroom. Anyone got something similar.

Curious what the energy saving lamps are.

controlled, can turn the light on or off and dim it, and controll the fan speed and turn the fan on and off,

it uses an infrared remote, and every now and then when the GF is flicking through the chanels on sky, the light will respond and turn on, only ever had the light turn on, never had it turn off or the fan start up, but appart from that it's bloody brilliant,

tho mine isnt controllable from the wall properly, i can turn the wall switch off and back on fast and it will turn the light on, turn the switch off, wait 4 seconds and turn it back on and it stays off... means a power blip causes the light to come on, not sure if the lidl one will do that,

i guess it works as a power cut indicator if nowt else.... or as i like to think of it, the power blips are the result of a pikey is getting fried nicking the copper at the substation, so the light is coming on to tell me one's been bbq'd :)

If it's the remote control bit you're interested in, you can get electronic dimmers with a remote control that fit in place of a normal light switch.

I got one at B&Q about five years ago for daughter's bedroom, and it's worked fine. Works with both touch (capacitive I guess) and IR remote control from any remote.

Going by the very similar looking ones that B&Q sell, I'd say 240V halogen.

The bulbs are the energy savings ones... I got 3 100W ones... Fitted the light, then realized the remote wasn't working too good. I've a tall ceiling in the room and the remote had to be placed at an angle. Got the product from B&Q. Hope your experience will be better.
