A few years ago I made a wooden bed from scratch and managed to find those fittings on-line. I have just googled 'bed fitting bolts'and it seems to have come up with what you are looking for.

IKEA have ( or had) ?bins? of the fittings in the casualty corner of their stores which have a selection of the various fittings they use. I believe they are free.
He will glad you came along - over 20 years without sleep must be getting to him by now.
