We stumbled on Girvan completely by accident some years ago due to a diversion many miles away (don't you love a rural Scottish diversion!?) Pass me the map, I said, where the #### is this diversion taking us? Continuing to our intended destination would have been ludicrous so…

We stumbled on Girvan completely by accident some years ago due to a diversion many miles away (don't you love a rural Scottish diversion!?)
Pass me the map, I said, where the #### is this diversion taking us? Continuing to our intended destination would have been ludicrous so we decided to abandon our plans and visit the nearest place and on a dreary and dreich day we approached Girvan and as we did the clouds cleared to reveal beautiful blue skies.
I have great affection for the place and have been back numerous times since.
Couldn't you just exchange it at the border?
