I have plaster & Lathe ceilings. I wish to reline it with plasterboard (9mm) by fixing battens to the original ceiling (hopefully at the joist positions !) - what thickness (vertically) should my battens be ?
And before anyone asks, in another part of my house that I've already renovated I took the entire ceiling down and fixed the plasterboard directly to the joists. Never again - major mess and probably not worth the hassle.
