Problems with Octopus Home Mini

Have you got a Mesh set up? When my car charging point was set up about 4 years ago, I had to turn my Mesh system off to let it set itself up. Then I could turn th eMesh back on.

Alternatively, is there a time of day when you can safely turn off the sources of the SSIDs. Turn off two leaving the one you want the Mini to connect to, and then try the password for the one still running is another possibility.

Turn off two of the APIs until you get a connection or make all the passwords the same temporarily.

I'm surprised it doesn't give you a list and let you pick one.

I remember setting Up my mini took me all of a couple of minutes.

The box above where you enter your wi-fi password tells you the SSID of the wi-fi/router. Does clicking on the SSID box give a list of SSIDs that have been found?

You may have to go into your router and temporarily turn off 5G wi-fi. The mini only works on 2.4G and I've found in the past that some 2.4G devices get confused during configuration when the SSID is the same for

Anyway, I'll get WiFi Analyzer running and see which is the best signal and turn the others off while I set it up.

Is the APP displaying the same SSID that your phone is connected to? Google suggests if you want a different SSID you need your phone to be connected to the different SSID.

I eventually got it working, I had to force my tablet to connect to WiFi (rather than the mobile signal) and then connect to the Home Mini. At the second attempt it worked.

I'm not sure how well it's going to work in the long run though as the WiFi signal for the home Mini isn't all that good. I've moved the router that's providing the best signal onto the window cill so that should help a bit.

There isn't an SSID box (assuming you mean in the Octopus App).

I didn't need to do this. What I did have to do was force my tablet to use the WiFi rather than the (better at this location) mobile signal.

Yes, this was the issue, I had to force my 'phone' to use the WiFi by turning off mobile data.

The app didn't display an SSID at all for me.

Just curious, did you read ANY of the set up instructions? I mean, I’m the world’s worst instruction follower most of the time but I do recall the mini’s instructions being fairly explicit.

For me youtube isn't instructions, so that bit was out.

I followed the written instructions below that.

So I went to:- octopus.energy/app/devices/setup-home-mini

... and that tried to install the Octopus app which I had already installed, which wasn't very encouraging.

It didn't tell me to 'devices' in the app and it didn't tell me what to do when I got there.

Apart from that it was perfect! :-)

No help whatsoever, but I've just connected my Octopus IHD, via their API to my Homeassistant rig. Not really sure why, but you can never have too much data.
