High prices on Ebay and Amazon often indicate that the seller currently has zero stock but doesn't want to pull the advert/listing as new stock is due.
Or they don't actually carry stock, but will order one from Farnell/CPC/etc and then repackage it to send to you. There's lots of Farnell own-brands (Duratool, Pro-Power) that give this away.

There seem to be plenty of sellers who generate listings automatically from wholesaler lists, and don't have a clue what something is or how much it's worth.
