Plumbing - which bits to twiddle?

I'm wanting to remove a sink, and quite helpfully, the old pipes have had a new bit of plumbing attached to them, so I reckon I can do without the services of a plumber, without a bit of help as to what I do with what.

I've put a picture up at

formatting link
- is the new bit of plastic which is on top of the old pipes, which has a screw which turns off the water.

B - is a sort of knurled thingy, morelike you might see on the end of a hosepipe

C - is another knurled thingy at the other end of the flexible metal pipe, connected I presume to the bottom of the pipe the tap is on

D - is a traditional nut on a thread

E - is a black nut which I reckon is there to hold the tap pipe against the sink

Do I loosen B and C, or is D the thing I need to loosen

yours in anticipation

I wonder how much an emergency plumber charges in the middle of an England world cup match? ;-)

NO! B and C are crimps -- they don't undo.

D is the only part you undo to disconnect the sink. You can't take the flexible connectors off the pipes, with the way they are plumbed in your picture.

I would suggest you find the next place back from A where you can turn the water off before starting, in case you break one of the connectors in the process.

There's a stopcock tap right below A, so that's no problem. Thanks for the help :-)
