PDF Editor ???????

Photoshop will open PDFs. Older versions (CS) will only do a page at a time. I've a feeling the later ones can open batches. I did this once (scanned handbook for a Drummond lathe that had been butchered beyond measure) and it was rather time consuming and that was only about 2 dozen pages.

Can anyone recommend ( a preferably free !!!) editor for .pdf files? I have a large file (approx 250 pages) that represents a machine manual that has been scanned to searchable pdf format, and I'd like to clean it up removing thumb prints and torn corners etc. It comprises lot of text and line drawings.

Pay the few $$ for PDFILL...... JFGI..... It's worth every cent

Certainly the price is modest enough - thanks I'll investigate.

The gimp will open the lot in layers, and will allow you to do basic photoshop type editing

Do be aware that because the end result is a PDF doesn't guarantee what the original scans were which can make a big difference to how easy it is to clean them up.

Open Office - install the .pdf editor extension.
