I think i've told this anecdote previously but I sold a pavement sign once, massive fucking thing (A0?) biggest one you can get anyway. Lass turned up to collect it in a Citroen C1 that was already laden with her work related crap. To my credit though, I got it in.

Why do I bother adding dimensions when I list something on Facebook Marketplace?

Just had them come to pick up a small chest of drawers with mirror, sort of hybrid chest/dressing table. What do these Rooshians turn up in? What do Rooshians always drive? A Merc saloon car of course, no chance the item would fit in the boot completely, or go through a rear door to lie on the back seat. Mr did have some of that brown plastic parcel tape, so he stuck a couple of strips of it to pull the boot lid down somewhat. That should last five minutes at least. And they have a 60 mile drive or so.

I bought a normal sized shower screen at a garage sale. My car is a Hyundai Getz which is about the same size as a Citroen C1. Everyone reconned that I would never get it in, but it fitted fine, didn't even need to leave the back hatch partially open.

Yes some years ago, I was staying in Malta with my Mother. The so called Taxi to the airport was one of those Fiat little minivans with windows and a lift up tailgate. Only his latch was busted, so he had it tied down with a piece of string. While climbing a hill, it broke and many suitcases fell out on the road, one burst open, Despite protestations from the passengers, he put the apparently intact cases back in, used brown parcel tape to mend the one that broke, tossed it in, got a new bit of string out of his pocket and tied the tailgate down again. I think we were all rather speechless, though we did report him. I never did find out if anything in the cases that did fall out got busted, like China. Brian

Picking up some timber from Wickes the other day, there was a couple struggling with a handsaw in the car park. Woman points "Oh look, a roof rack - that's what we need". I pointed at the Halfords across the car park, but they suddenly weren't convinced it was worth it. How much stuff do you need to carry for it to become worth the investment? Not much, I think.
