OT scare stories

No thanks...

Might as well join the fascist party "and help form their policies"

OTOH if I ever feel the need to get my marxist thang on, I'll know who to join.

But you already know them?

You really think the UK Labour party anything to do with Marx?

Yep even I;ve noticed that. In programs like coronation street, brookside, emmerdale and a lot of the o ther soaps (and american/austrialian ones) all the cast have silly stupid sounding accents that few really understand, this is totally differnt from Eastenders where almost everyone speaks in a normal voice with a sensible a ccent and speaking proper English, like wot I do, well sorted ;-D

It just means it will lose threading when the subject line gets edited, or erroneously threads unrelated messages that happen to have the same title.

Personally I find it handy that the trolls end up separated from the thread, since it makes it easy to just kill the whole new thread.

Yes. There have always been hard left elements lurking, but they have come to much greater prominence in recent times. Hardly surprising with the current leadership.

I think non-leadership is the term you are looking for. Jezza has no discernible leadership qualities.

We're not talking about who is British but who currently and for the forseeable past, present and future will be living and working in Britain and visable to those walking the streets of Britain that's what the soaps are representing.

No my original point was that the broadcasters treat us like gullible idiots by having a disproportionate number of ethnics on TV and radio.

If you've seen a lot of black newsreaders is was probably in a majority black country, where the majority of the newsreaders should be black.

So you generalise about people on grounds of age? Ageism! Worse than racism! Deplorable!

The statistics prove you wrong. Older people are happier and more contented than younger people. There was a study recently that showed this.

My life is overflowing with things to be happy about, and I'm very happy. All my friends in their 70s are having a whale of a time, same as me. No money worries, lovely family, lots of good grub, holidays half the year! Bloody hell you want to try it!

It isn't trivial when the broadcasters treat us like gullible idiots.

Yes you. You seem to think you understand about human beings and you don't.

Rather like the hard right has come to prominence in the ruling Conservative party? More of a threat than in an opposition one, I'd say.

Odd, then, you Tories are so terrified of him. And take every opportunity to make up or exaggerate anything they can about him.

But hey - May must be the perfect leader. Points in all directions at once.

Are the soaps documentaries, then? Never knew that till now.

So why do you waste your time watching TV programes that you know are going to upset you ?

Not just upset you, but get you so worked up that you feel you need to tell everyone about it ?

When even you must realise that a lot of people are going to disagree with you ? So much so that you're then going to have to waste even more of your time trying to justify yourself ?

But many people have concluded quite reasonably that broadcasters

*do* at times treat the public like gullible idiots. There's nothing new there at all.

But as there's nothing you as an individual can do about it why worry about it ?

Why would anyone in their right mind continue doing something which they know will upset them and which they know they can do nothing about ?

Well to have a good moan of course. Even if by so doing they're boring the pants off of everybody else, more especially if they claim to be deleriously happy at the same time.

No I must admit you've got me totally fooled.

I'm utterly amazed you have the time to find out and count the ethnic origins of every single person who appears on radio and TV.

Or could it be you are basing this on the progs you watch/listen purely to complain about? A latter day Mary Whitehouse?

Does that mean all the stories you post here about the horrid place you live - full of foreigners etc - made up? Or just blown up out of all proportion?

Eh ?

" After the ITV news full of scare stories with the black news reader frowning furiously I switched to Sky news, where there were the same scare stories but a different black news reader frowning furiously."

I thought your whole problem was that you were already seeing an awful lot of black newsreaders.

Why should I not see even more, given that I watch the news in London ?

Isn't your problem in fact that you're not seeing *enough* black newsreaders ?

As if you saw more of them, you'd be so accustomed to them that their colour would no longer be an issue.

As this upsets you so much, in fact given their duty of care towards people such as yourself I think your local broadcaster should recruit *more* black newreaders allowing people such as yourself to become more accustomed to them. Rather than getting yourselves so worked up. As obviously other forms of indoctrination or training aren't going to work.

Which TV area are you in BTW, out if interest ?

It wasn't me that thinks they are meant to be documentries that was you wasn't it, thinking that the balance of colours, accents and jobs had to be in line with the real world. I see EE as a fun soap not really emulating what the Eastend where I live is like even thopugh on the show they mention my local areas such as leyton, stratford, walthamstow, all these places actually exist in the real world.

There was a recnt story on a stabbing in EE.

Apparenly accoridn to EE these things can really affect other peoples lives friends, family but it never happens in the real world because soaps are just made up stories. I walk past this building on some weekends anytime from 9pm to 2am

But I wouldn;t worry thinmgs in soaps never happen in the real world do they it;s all stories, written by the non-working class.

I don't expect any fiction to be in line with the real world.

If it were, Glasgow would be empty after all the murders on Taggart.

Perhaps you need to look up what fiction is.
