Opinions anybody?
I note that the article didn't quote the so called "decent wage". I can't believe that packing pies is going to pay more than minimum wage
and with zero opportunity to rise up the employment ladder to anything other than "senior" pie packer, why would anyone want such a job?

burger flipping jobs. They seem to prefer to employ furriners who don't understand english to a local who's prepared to do whatever somebody's prepared to pay them to do.
The response from MacDonald's was: we believe you have insufficient commercial food retail experience for this position.
WTF? You now need experience at being a burger-flipper before being allowed to work as a burger-flipper?

And how much would you be willing to pay for your food to ensure that the workers producing your pies had a decent income?
he should buy a pie packing machine

ample quantities of which are provided on benefits.

What? To all 60 million of us? Well I'll be hornswoggled. How come you didn't tell most of us before, you bastard? There's most of us slaving away at a *job*, and all the while we could all have been living the life of Riley (or O'Reilly or whatever the f*ck his name was), without having to bother.
That would be my SiL then.
Serious question. Have you tried at B&Q for a job?
A friend (single mum) has landed an 18 hour a week job on the minimum wage. Now the CSA will kick in. Lets see if her efforts to find a job leaves her better off than doing sweet FA other than claiming benefits. She applied for over 100 jobs (all unskilled mimimum wage jobs) before landing this one. If she was in Doncaster then she would have applied for a job at the bakery in your link if they could offer the hours that took into account that she is a single mum.
Looking through my notes I see I went through the B&Q "Careers" website in September. A quick look again just now reminds me that the listed vacancies in South Yorkshire were things like Retail Management Graduate, Regional People Partner (WTF?), and Asset Protection Manager (???). I notice today there are a couple of Customer Advisor (ie Sales Staff), but in Leeds.
Every couple of weeks I do random trawling of whatever companies I can think of. I was turned down by Morrisons and Asda three weeks ago.

i.e. The thug that stands by the door and wastes his breath asking to see your receipt as you leave ...
er donno...
The person in charge of the person who stands at the door ready to grab people when the loop alarm sounds. Or person in charge of the people watching the security cameras at the checkouts to make sure the till staff haven't got their fingers in the till or in charge of floor walkers that are there to try and stop the customers lifting stuff.
Care to say why? Don't have to.
Sure it is.
Plonker.
Enough to be sure they didn't gob in them.
I thought that but they wouldn't be a "manager". The doorman (note singular) would need a "manager" above them to check their timesheet and do the rosta. The door man would be an "Asset Protection Officer".
ISTM that they need the extra staff in order to avoid the long hours,
but being a bakery they are almost certainly shitty house (assuming that you think 06:00-14:00 are shitty hours).
