While its likely to be an iPad problem, it not guaranteed - you can on occasion find a particular device that refuses to pair properly with a particular access point.
Also worth checking what WiFi channel the router is on. I have had cases where the router chooses one of the UK specific channels, and some devices will refuse to connect to those upper channels.
I note that after an update Virgin is claiming its crippled Hub 3.0 will automatically select the strongest least congested channel to use. Despite my previously setting specific channels the update has switched them to "auto". At least they haven't forced me to change the security passphrase like the previous update, which meant I had to go around manually reconfiguring machines before they could talk to the network, not the easiest thing to do with a headless device in an inconvenient location.
I took my iPad over to my daughter's this weekend to try it on her WiFi, guess what it behaved itself all day. Got home it shows my WiFi is there but nothing doing.
My daughter said her iPad 2 did something similar a while back but a sync with iTunes on her laptop sorted it out so will give that a go today.

Indeed. One of the most recent updates to iPads last week has stopped both of my wife's from connecting to our downstairs repeater. The failure was immediately after the update was applied.
Very US-centric of them.
