Some feedback on the final decision. Thanks for the large number of comments. We opted for a Stoves 110cm cooker with an induction hob and are very pleased with the choice. having used it for nearly 2 months I can't imagine going back to ceramic or gas.

I used to be an old school "nothing but gas" type, but just rented a cottage for a break which had an induction hob.
Very impressed, although the "touch" controls were a bit quirky. Will certainly look hard at these next time.
Put in a ceramic hob with one halogen (i.e. near instant) point for aged mother in law many years ago. Not too bad, don't know if these are still available. (I'd want five or six halogen points though).
