OT FFS More annoying green children

You are never told old for that.

You should have seen the size of the one I drew on Filey beach. The early morning tide gives a clean canvas.

When I worked in Oxford back in the 1980s, the street outside McDonalds was trash filled every evening by the Italians

And no problems with me stopping the van to make an apprentice get out of the van to recover the can he has just thrown out the window before driving off and leaving him and his job in the rain?

And now you're admitting to wasting food as well! I admire your taste for living dangerously (or your confidence that the children of the revolution don't know where you live).

Copenhagen is very untidy. The Danes blame it on the tourists. When my Danish cousin visited, the first thing she did was to throw all the tissues and other waste out of the car door into the airport car park.

I didn't want to create tension at the start of the visit but to this day I regret not saying I am aware that depositing litter is a Danish custom, but not one we practice here.

What makes you think it was the Italians? Oxford is exactly known as a particular spot for Italians, even in the 80s.

No it isn?t. On the contrary it is an immaculate place, in an Ikea way ;-) ( yes, I know Ikea is Swedish but there is something about Denmark).

Really. When did you visit? I have never seen so much graffiti. Have you travelled on one of their trains? Unless you think graffiti is 'tidy'.

On todays 'Click', the people of Vanuatu are banning single use plastic.

Plenty of non-white people there for the BBC to 'show the world an example'.

Don't all children lick them out ?. Washing should be unnecessary.

All those HGVs heading for the UK, who seem to discard their piss-filled PET bottles out of the window along the A34 (and other roads) must have come through France as part of their journey ?

(ignoring the ferries coming into Harwich/Hull/Plymouth).

How did the drivers get rid of their rubbish over there ?.

Clarkson did one in the USA with the rear tyres of a Mustang.

In one of the storm drains in California I think.

Some naughty ancient people beat you to it ?Dorset. They created a huge willy on the chalk hillside.

You don?t see that by the road side or in the Aires ( rest stops). There are immaculate.

On long runs between sites, we sometimes stop to stretch our legs and swap drivers, maybe have a coffee etc. The Aires are spotless. Some have picnic benches etc. It isn?t unusual to see people with table cloths having there lunch as only the French seem to ;-)

I?m no Europhile but they do get a lot of things right- including not littering and roads.

I don?t like graffiti either but it isn?t litter.

Graffiti does seem to be something the Europeans favour- a lot in Paris, we tend to stay on the outskirts and travel in by train. The areas by the railways are especially prone to it, like here. We skipped Paris this year- Brittany, the Loire and Normandy instead.

Everywhere has its poorer areas but even there there isn?t the litter you?d see in a London street.

Oh, and look at some of those buildings. They could almost have come out of an Ikea flat pack ;-)

A bogus argument. The cities and towns are clean. We sat in a place called Pont-Audemer having a coffee about 4 week back and were discussing how immaculate it was. It wasn?t a wealthy area, house prices are remarkably cheap even for France. Yet this small town was spotless. It was very busy, positively bustling, pavement cafes, small shops, and it wasn?t even market day. It is just south of the Pont du Normandy.

Also, a number of years back I visited Switzerland on business. We arrived the night of some festival- bad choice for us, getting a meal was murder, we ended up with a pizza which is not something I enjoy. That aside... The place was heaving, people drinking in the streets, singing, music, ... Next morning we left the hotel to go to our meeting early, there wasn?t a trace of the previous evening?s events anywhere. Not a empty bottle, black sack, litter, nothing other than the bunting etc. We?d turned in at maybe 11pm and the party was still going strong then. We left the hotel about 8:15.
