New Brit Workshop and Festool Domino

in this video Peter Parfitt show how to assemble a strutted joint. What he doesn't show is how he cut the Domino slots in the cross brace withe the 45 degree face. Just to make myself clear. He is joing two pieces at a 45 degree angle. The vertical leg and the strut with the 45 degree cut..I can't think of a simple way apart from cutting the Domino slot before he cut the 45 degree angle in the end of the timber. Any suggestions?

The dominoes don't go in at 45°, they're all perpendicular to the surface they're into ...

All the domino mortices were cut perpendicular to the faces of the timber. So for the strut end it plunged straight into the face of the mitre, and the matching slot in the side part was plunged straight into the side of the timber.

(You can set the fence on the domino to do a non square plunge - but only on one axis)
