car exhausts

can you buy one piece exhaust systems as fitted at the factory to most cars these days or do you have to replace in bits ?

I'm not aware that a car exhaust is a one piece system.

Probably you would need to replace a centre pipe or a back box (possibly both at the same time) but leave the engine exhaust manifold and and catalytic converter in place.

On my last car (ford focus) most of the the original exhaust lasted 17 years. The only bit that had a hole was the engine exhaust manifold.

yes they com as one piece to the factory including the Cat.....angle grinder time I think

Do EVs (not hybrids) have exhausts?

You can get fake output pipes

Ive watched a huge amount of videos on car repairs, and it never is. The cats are usually separate for a start, and there is a tendency to have seperate mufflers

I too have known a long exhaust pipe fitted, where a replacement pipe can be purchased in sections.

It makes fitting much easier without having to move axles etc. Plus ease of shipping and storage with a reduced length. The old would be cut into sections for removal.

07 suzuki wagon r and 2013 dacia duster one piece including cat was under both this moening

makes sense for the manufacturer to be fitted as one piece manafold to tailpipe....
