Name for combined torx hex bolt

Feb 25, 2016 4 Replies

Managed to lose a bolt (working on VW Caddy) . It has a Torx centre, but the head is also a Hex bolt (shape). (10mm). Do these things have a proper name?

ps Is it correct that if the thread runs the complete length of the shank then it should be called a screw - not a bolt?

A 'set screw' is what I think it should be if fully threaded. I guess 'screw' by itself is OK as long as it's clear that it's not a wood screw or something akin to one.

Euro style torx hex seems to turn up a few results.
