Match of the day.. In St Marie

Whilst watching the latest episode of “Death in paradise” the inspector got bawled out and fined for having fitted a satellite dish so he could watch match of the day…..

The dish must have bern all of a foot in diameter snd appeared to be pointing horizontally.

Even were it 20 times the size, I don’t think he would have been able to pick up signals aimed at the UK.

Are there any satellite TV signals beamed to the Caribbean?

Or does he need to get his money back?

I watched the recording tonight!

It's set in a mythical Caribbean island, isn't it? (Forgive me, I've never seen it) I'm not saying that what's good for Argentina is good for St Marie but I know first hand that events like that can be watched in many South American locations on the cable channels and there are also dubious rebroadcasters of special events who distribute paid-for services like that through the internet.

My guess is that was a microwave link to a rebroadcaster on another island. BICBW

Maybe you should check out what can be received, albeit with big dishes at Menwith Hill and Morwenstowe.

Also maybe check what a "plot device" is. ;-)

As far as I'm aware, the programme is a work of fiction. Not everything is true.

Maybe what he had was a satellite Internet link.

In article snipped-for-privacy@4ax.com, Nick Odell snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.ca scribeth thus

The whole set is based on the island of Guadeloupe!..

I had a shufty at street view to try and find other dishes but without success.
