Went back to my local Lidl and they had either sold out of the Scotchlok clones or maybe even withdrawn them.
Got 19 packets of half price smoked salmon though.

If it is rigid, it normally has a single core, i.e. ring main or lighting cable.
If it is stranded, then it is probably 'flex', so not rigid, apart from 4mm upwards, which the yellow connectors might be for.
Possibly 'rigid stranded' is something like the 2.5mm used in conduit. It is stranded, but still stiff since there are only a few strands - rather like 7/.029 in the past.
Not sure about now, but stranded 1.5 and 2.5 was certainly available.
I don't think it's "common" vs. "official" so much as domestic/consumer vs. distributor/industrial points of view.
