Lidl complaint response

I wrote and complained to Lidl about their checkout operator simply closing the till with a long queue already waiting, and all being told to queue again at another till, plus us already partially unloaded onto the till belt.

They have written back to say that such conduct by their staff is not acceptable and that some staff retraining is on the cards.

Unless they know the operator in question how can they train them. Lidl don?t have many staff on duty at one time but I think all can operate the check outs or any other duty as needed so know it was a specific person unless you gave enough detail would be impossible. You did right to complain but it will take a string of complaints to stop it happening.

Define "retraining". I suspect it'll be a memo to that stores manager and then, maybe, a notice on the staff notice board reminding them of the procedure to follow when closing a checkout.

Every receipt has store number, till number, receipt number, operator number, date and time...

You lead such an interesting life!

Failing that there's always fingerprinting and DNA testing.

Quite frankly hanging is too good for these people.

They should be hunted down and forced to walk through the streets with placards around their necks " I closed a checkout in Lidl without warning". Not only them but their entire families. Before final justice is enacted.

You really need to make an example of these people, its the only language they understand. Oh and they ran out the small size of baked beans in my local branch on Tuesday.

+1 Be interesting to see complaints from checkout operators about some of the ignorant customers they have to serve.

Harry didn?t get to the problem checkout operator his receipt would identify the one who served him.

True it is often women in their 30s/40s dressed in track suits and parkas that seem to be the worst offenders. Not in the local Waitrose thankfully.

So ignore that bit you have date/time of being served, check the POS system logs for the checkout that closed and who logged off just before that.

No Karens in Waitrose?

:-)

The other day in Aldi it was Checkout 5 opening ... checkout 5 closing ... checkout 5 opening ... checkout 5 closing ...

We all just waited and eventually the orbiting member of staff coincided with the green light over Checkout 5 and we got our shopping thrown at us.

Dave Liquorice laid this down on his screen :

I/we were not served by the operator who caused the problem. We, along with everyone else in the queue, had to move our purchases to the other end of the line of tills, to join another queue.

My partner, who goes in much more often than me - suggests that their just closing a till like that, happens often, particularly when that person is on a till. I have asked her to let know if it happens again. If it does, I will complain again to their HQ.

I would suggest that others do likewise.

head office can tell the store manager. He's got to sort out the problem.

The ones who, once everything is checked out, hunt for their purse/wallet and thesearch it for the card.

A long drive from here can you find a hotel as well but find the survival post first or admit you lied.

Often its manager retraining shops tend to need.. ahem... Brian

They usually pass a "Checkout Closing" to a customer to put behind their shopping to prevent others from unloading their trolleys.

Perhaps an emergency though.

Memo reminder will be adequate retraining.
