Legalities of changing sockets and brakes in England?

It's certainly beginning to look that way.

Talking of it's. Explain to me, logically, not just "it's the rules", why it's cannot be possessive. John's car. Fred's motorcycle. The tree's leaves. It's doorhandle.

How do you split the proceeds when they only stole one?

Well they're trying to find customers. So no credit squeeze. Anyway, so what if there is, it would be better if nobody ever lent anyone anything.

Once they get 70 grand they never have to pay back, they don't care.

Driving is already multitasking.

And there you go again with your silly little rules. "Not supposed to be". Those with intelligence do what they believe is right, not what everyone else believes is right.

"it's" is short for "it is", that's why. And yes, there's some confusion in that:

John's car John's going to the shops (John is going to the shops)

look a bit similar.

In the same way, "who's" is short for "who is", and we use "whose" for the possessive.

You just have to think about what you're writing, is all. And not write "loose" when you mean "lose", not write "a criteria" when you mean "a criterion", and understand why:

She gave it to John and I

They're trying to find *good* customers. Most applications are rejected.

Nobody gets a credit limit that large.

No, it isn't.

Those with intelligence have more important things to think about than deciding whether to adhere to a particular law or not. You clearly don't.

  1. 'It' is a pronoun. The others are not. Using it's as the possessive would be like using he's or him's instead of his.
  2. For the intelligent and literate among us, it helps to identify the stupid and illiterate.

A surprising number of otherwise apparently clever and literate people consistently follow the dim and illiterate use of 'it's' when they mean 'its' - but rarely vice versa.

A good reason to have all cars auto gearboxes, one less thing to do.

And so could it's and it's. No reason to have a difference between John and it. They are both entities which own something.
