Just bought one of those magnetic door screens

The one where magnets pull the two halves of the screen together (Lidl). A neat solution, apart from the means of fixing around the door frame.

The series of magnets where they part, neatly pull the two sides back together when released, but oh dear - the fixing methods....

It was too long and too wide. It uses sticky backed velcro for all of the fixing. You are supposed to be able shorten it by velcro-ing the extra length up and stick the velcro to the mesh where it is too wide. Trouble is, velcro just doesn't stick that well to mesh at all, it so lacks surface area needed to stick.

There is also a rather strange fold over at the top, which just lacks any purpose. All of the edges have a stitched on tape, pretty useless unless the edge fits the door width and height, which it just doesn't.

Plan now is to fix them properly with press-studs, rolling the surplus on the sides around the reinforcing tape.
