Hi All I'm trying to find the best location for a new boiler in the kitchen. The obvious choice is on the wall near the kitchen sink. The flue would have to exit above the window (non-opener) and I guess that means above the lintel. That appears to be safe to me, is it? How deep would the lintel be? It's a 1960's detached two storey house, brick built. Ta.

Yup that's usually fine...
(even if it were an opener, it only normally only needs to be 300mm away assuming its a fan assisted balanced flue)
(BS 5440-1 pages 72 to 74 give all the details and corner cases)
If you look on line at the proposed boiler installation instructions, they show (at least Worcester Bosch do) the parameters affecting flue locations.

Thanks. I'm not concerned about flue to opening window/door etc, but was more concerned about the flue needing a 6" hole above a lintel. I guess it makes no difference whether it is close to a lintel or just in a plain area of wall.
Above a lintel aught not be a problem, whereas *through* a lintel might be ;-)
