How much for a CAT5e module?

You know those things and inch wide that clip into a face plate.

I wanted four but can anyone guess how much I was quoted, each, including discount, on Friday?

Is that a typo for £7.10 or £7 to £10?

Your borked newsreader cant understand UTF8

I don't think they had invented UTF-8 when my newsreader was written... Oh they had, first presented at the to the USENIX conference in 1993. 1998 is the last copyright date in my newsreader...

The graph of UTF-8, ASCII, ISO-8859-1 v time on wonkypedia doesn't show UTF-8 making any significant appearance on the web until

2006/2007.

I checked my Screwfix order history and they were £0.30p each from Labgear however they don't seem to stock them at the moment.

In fact they don't seem to stock very much CAT5e stuff at all.

The Cat 6 version seems to be £2.25 from LAP.

Hopefully you weren't asked for more than £10 for four.

Cheers

No one else appears to wish to have a guess so I'll say what I was quoted:

£11 + VAT EACH!

MK ones but the two module MK face plate and MK blank were a far more reasonable £3.96 to the credit card. CEF in Hexham. I'm not sure that the person serving me was the brightess spark in the box. I had wanted a Crabtree surface single metal rockergrid back box(*) but he said they had no stock. I then asked for the modular bits and he brings out a single gang twin grid face plate...

(*) Crabtree rockergrid stuff uses smaller (73 mm) metal back box.

They weren't the MK proprietary 'not-quite euro spec' plates and modules were they? I think those are like rocking horse shit, so might be more expensive ...

You forgot to ask for the 75% trade discount, the 10% special offer discoun t, and the 5% on Tuesday discount.

That would make them only twice as expensive as CPC which have modules from about 50p each.

CEF

Those three letters say it all

B-)

Yeah, their "list prices" are stupidly high but then they apply a 95% discount and they become reasonable. £3.96 inc for the faceplate and blank is "reasonable".

Trouble is the amount of time and keyboard tapping that is required to apply the discounts to each line of the order. 5 mins to pick out back, 15 mins to work out the invoice...
